Supporting Charities

At MCR Property Group, we believe in the importance of giving back to our community. We encourage our employees to pursue their own charitable endeavours, such as participating in marathons, and we also host our own fundraising events, including bake sales and fundraisers. We take great pride in our efforts to make a positive impact by placing philanthropy at the core of our company culture.

Our founder, Aneel Mussarat, established the Rafay Mussarat Foundation in 2017 with the aim of tackling homelessness and providing essential healthcare and education to those affected by poverty. The foundation operates both within the UK and internationally, with aspirations to construct homeless shelters across the UK and build free hospitals in Punjab, Pakistan.

Hospitals and Aid in Pakistan

The Rafay Mussarat Foundation has recently committed to constructing nine free-to-use hospitals in Pakistan. The first of these hospitals is expected to commence operation in 2023, with the remaining eight to be completed over the next decade. In addition to the new hospitals, the foundation also operates a free eye and general hospital in Pakistan. These essential healthcare facilities are projected to benefit up to 10 million people in the region.

Furthermore, between 2019 and 2021, the foundation distributed over 30,000 food packages to support impoverished families in Pakistan. Each package is designed to feed a family of five for a month.

Rohingya Aid

Aneel and the foundation embarked on a visit to Myanmar to witness firsthand the struggles of the Rohingya people and the overwhelming challenges they face on a daily basis. Their time spent in the region was humbling, revealing the significant level of support required to help restore humanity in the area. The foundation aims to expand on their current achievements in Myanmar and provide international relief to communities in need across the world.

“During our recent trip to Myanmar, we were deeply shocked and saddened by the dire conditions faced by the displaced Rohingya people,” explained Aneel. “While there, we were fortunate enough to assist the Bangladesh army in distributing food to around 17,000 individuals. Though the crisis was incredibly difficult to witness, we felt blessed to have been able to provide some assistance.”

Partnership with Smile Aid

In 2021, we collaborated with the council during Ramadan to provide food packages, clothing, and sleeping bags to those in need. Concurrently, we joined forces with Manchester-based charity Smile Aid to distribute 100,000 meals through food banks in the disadvantaged Longsight area of Manchester.

MCR Charity Run

On May 28th, 2017, 49 members of the MCR team participated in the Manchester 10k run, raising an estimated £2,000 for charity. The Manchester 10km run is the largest event of its kind in Europe.

Each team member contributed £38 and received additional contributions from sponsors such as our friends at Cambridge and Counties Bank. The run commenced on Portland Street, proceeded through the city centre, and past iconic landmarks such as Old Trafford football ground, The Imperial War Museum, and The Lowry before culminating at the finish line in Deansgate.

Homeless Shelters in Manchester

The foundation launched a £2 million programme to construct homeless shelters in 2021 with the goal of providing 1,000 places for homeless individuals by 2022. The aim is to address drug and alcohol dependency issues and to reintegrate those who use the shelters into mainstream society.

MCR Peace Walk

On June 1st, hundreds of MCR Property Group employees, family members, and friends came together for a peace walk in memory of the victims of the Manchester Arena attack. Everyone walked in solidarity, carrying banners with different messages as a symbol of peace and love for Manchester.

National Autistic Society

In September 2017, Aneel’s daughter got married. Instead of accepting gifts for the newlyweds, Aneel requested that guests make a donation to The National Autistic Society. In total, £80,000 was raised and donated to the charity. The CEO, Mark Lever, sent a formal letter acknowledging the extraordinary donation. Since then, Aneel has had meetings with the Senior Relationships Manager and Head of Corporate Partnerships of The National Autistic Society to explore ways that MCR Property Group can help to raise funds and awareness for this worthy charity.

Breast Cancer Research

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Breast Cancer Now aims to involve as many people as possible in raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research. As the UK’s largest breast charity, along with its supporters, they achieve this through campaigning, collecting, a variety of events across the UK, as well as encouraging everyone to wear pink. This year, MCR Property Group also joined the UK in wearing pink!
