MCR strengthens Sheffield PBSA portfolio with major acquisition

MCR Property Group has finalised the acquisition of The Moor, a 126-bed student accommodation scheme in Sheffield city centre. This latest deal reaffirms the national real estate and development company’s commitment to the thriving PBSA sector, whilst strengthening regional presence in Sheffield, now with some 800-plus beds.

The Moor offers a modern mix of studio accommodation alongside a gym, club lounge, communal spaces and access to retail, transport and leisure amenities. Located just a seven-minute walk from Sheffield Hallam University and 10 minutes from the University of Sheffield, this development places students at the heart of one of the UK’s most vibrant academic cities.

The scheme complements Truro Works and Park Village, collectively offering students a choice of city-centre and more residential-style locations, further positioning MCR as one of the major PBSA operators in the city, with an increasingly diverse and high-performing portfolio.

Nick Lake, Fund Director at MCR Property Group, said: “Sheffield is one of the UK’s most exciting student cities and we are proud to now operate more than 800 beds across three strong schemes here. The Moor expands our presence and reinforces our ambition to be a leading national PBSA operator. Our focus remains on delivering high-quality, well-managed accommodation that reflects the needs of today’s students, and Sheffield is a huge part of that strategy.”

MCR’s national student accommodation platform continues to grow at pace, with the Group set to complete a further 500 student beds in another major UK city before the end of the year, adding even greater scale and momentum to its PBSA strategy.

Looking ahead, MCR will launch its new national student brand platform next quarter, unifying all PBSA assets under one identity to strengthen marketing, elevate the student experience and support large-scale portfolio growth.
