Rafay Mussarat Foundation
Following a recent trip to Myanmar, Aneel Mussarat, together with several of his friends, launched a charitable organisation to help those affected by ongoing conflict in the country.
Aneel and the group visited Myanmar to see first-hand the plight of the Rohingya people and the overwhelming challenges they face every day. Their time on the ground was humbling and highlighted the sheer level of support that is required to help restore humanity there. The charity, the Rafay Mussarat Foundation, will further expand on what they have already achieved in Myanmar, providing international relief throughout the world to communities in need.
“On our recent visit to Myanmar, we were deeply shocked and saddened to witness the terrible conditions faced by the Rohingya people who have been displaced,” explains Aneel. “The situation is deplorable, with many left destitute and segregated from a country that now classes them as illegal immigrants from neighbouring Bangladesh.
“While there, we were given the opportunity to help the Bangladesh army distribute food to some 17,000 people and, though the crisis was horrific to witness, we feel blessed to have been able to help. As such, we hope our recently launched charity, the Rafay Mussarat Foundation, will go some way to offering the long-term support that’s needed to help restore peace for the Rohingya people.”
MCR Peace Walk
On June 1st, hundreds of MCR Property Group employees, family and friends joined together for a peace walk in memory of the Manchester Arena attack victims. Everybody walked together in solidarity holding banners with different messages as a symbol of peace and love towards Manchester.
The walk began outside the Arena and continued on towards St. Anne’s Square where flowers, balloons, cards and candles have been lay in memory of those who lost their lives. As MCR Property Group is such a multicultural business based in Manchester city centre, the walk represented our togetherness in such tragic circumstances and showed we will not be divided by such events.
MCR Charity Run
On May 28th, 49 members of the MCR team took part in the Manchester 10k run, raising an estimated £2,000 for charity. The Manchester 10km run is the largest run of its type in Europe.
Each member of the team donated £38 as well as accumulating additional contributions from sponsors such as our friends at Cambridge and Counties Bank. The run kicked-off on Portland Street, heading through the city centre and past Mancunian landmarks like Old Trafford football ground, The Imperial War Museum and The Lowry before crossing the finish line in Deansgate.
The National Autistic Society
In September 2017, Aneel’s daughter got married and rather than accept gifts for the newlyweds Aneel asked that guests make a donation to The National Autistic Society. In total £80,000 was raised and donated to the charity. The CEO Mark Lever sent a formal letter in acknowledgement of the extraordinary donation. Since this Aneel has had meetings with The Senior Relationships Manager and Head of Corporate Partnerships of The National Autistic Society to see how MCR Property Group can help to raise money and awareness for such a worthy charity.
Breast Cancer Research
During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Breast Cancer Now aim to get as many people as possible involved in raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research. As the UK’s largest breast charity, along with its supporters, they do this through campaigning, collecting, an array of events across the UK as well as encouraging everyone to wear pink. This year MCR Property Group joined the UK in wearing pink too!
Macmillan Coffee Morning
Last year the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning raised an incredible £27 million to help support people affected by cancer. In September, members of MCR Property Group baked cakes and made treats to help raise money for Springhill Hospice.
